چکیده

A chloride-based molten-salt system that uses a ternary blend of MgCl2/KCl/NaCl is investigated to provide higher-temperature thermal energy storage capability than conventional nitrate salt-based systems. Despite their high stability and operating temperature, molten chlorides present several challenges, including the design internal liners prevent corrosion stress alloy tank shells. This work discusses issues potential solutions related containment chloride salt, specifically optimization hot face refractory materials for use as liners. Three down-selected were analyzed with respect permeation salt through material well chemical during temperature operation. Through application X-ray imaging electron spectroscopy techniques, highly stable secondary surface phases in equilibrium identified, time-dependent changes composition itself.

Design of new molten salt thermal energy storage material for solar thermal power plant

In order to obtain molten salt with lower melting point, higher thermal stability and reduced cost relative to previously available materials, a variety of molten salt mixtures of alkali nitrates are investigated by experimental methods. However, since measurements are generally expensive and time-consuming, it is of interest to be able to predict melting point and the component of multi-compon...

Cost and performance analysis of an integrated solar combined cycle with two tanks for indirect thermal energy storage

In this paper, the annual and economic performance of an integrated solar combined cycle (ISCC) with indirect energy storage tanks is investigated. The study includes four scenarios, in which the combined cycle performance was studied exclusively in the first scenario. In the second scenario, the integrated solar combined cycle (ISCC) was examined, and the use of supplementary firing instead of...
